The Celtic women were warriors who accompanied their men to war, armed with swords, axes and bows fought and shouted their war chants, throwing themselves at the enemy to force them to fight. Julio César said of the Celtic women, An angry Celtic female is a dangerous force to be feared. Unlike Roman or Greek women, the Celts could have the authority, since they inherited land and possessions when they married. They were ambassadors, rulers and prophetesses in their villages.
