Artwork Description:
Sometime further into the future, I was having a row with the other half, and I lost my temper again. I took a sheath knife to the canvas of the painting (which hung in our living room) and a hand axe to the unique frame.
Then I dumped the whole mess into a cardboard box.
Well, that cardboard box of trash followed me around for decades. I don't know why I kept it; I just did.
Then I decided to atone for my second temper tantrum by restoring the junk in the box.
I glued the slashed painting onto another piece of canvas and then "copied" it onto a separate, fresh, stretched and primed canvas. After a while I varnished it. In the meantime, I painstakingly reconstructed the frame.
This restored work has now hung in my studio for many years. People love it even tho they don't know what the subject matter is. Maybe they sense a story there.
I had finally triumphed over my outbursts of destructive temper.
