No. 10 in the bib overalls and white T-shirt series begun in 1994. Signed on Dec. 9, 2004. A portrait of the famed beatnik writer and poet in bib overalls combined with a pastel drawing of mine done at age 19, before I was really an artist. The pastel was inspired by the beats (beatniks), Eastern philosophy, jazz, beat poetry, and, of course, Kerouac's novel, On the Road. In my original pastel there is the same highway, the same cool dude with long hair, shades, a beard and a turtleneck jersey; the same map showing Coolsville, Squaresville and the inky, murky darkness called Life. I made no attempt to improve on or correct the childish drawing of the original pastel beatnik, road and map.
