Artwork Description:
An old country general store surrounded by tourist cabins, the forerunners of modern motels. On State Route 62 between State Highway 37 and Possum Junction, Indiana. Painting done from pencil sketches. The main building, along with some others there, burned to the ground about a year after the painting was completed. The buildings had already been abandoned when the sketches were done. Note the hatching style and the ennobling of what really were humble, run-down structures.
