Artwork Description:
Vibrant colors in oil paint were employed here with a spotlight effect to imitate the lighting and atmosphere at a salsa dance social. I made the models peek-a-boo, cut-out dress to show off anatomy and the passion of the dance. The painting is about a Salsa Dancing movement when the man puts the woman into a salsa move called a Titanic so that she can solo dance in front of him called a shine. At the end of this shine, she drops down to the ground ascending slowly with an arch in her back.
The painting could also be interpreted as an altogether different movement in salsa dancing as well.
