This work is inspired by my Swedish Grandfather, who came to this country in 1904 and soon after with a brother of his went to work on the gangs who built railroad trestles in the Northern Rockies. One of his brothers ended up settling in Idaho. I did a similar watercolor in my childhood, and gave it to him for his Birthday one year. This composition is nearly identical in form to that early work.
