Artwork Description:
One of the many varieties of bananas in the Philippines, is the “saba”. It is best eaten cooked, boiled unpeeled, fried in caramelized sugar and many other ways. But alas, my skill is not of the stove.
My calling as an artist swirls my mind in fantasies. Here is my “Banana Saba Fantasy”. Broad leaves in tones of green blended harmoniously to indicate its energy, swaying with the rhythm of the wind. Its fruits are almost ripe, and the heart of the banana ready to be picked. The weight of its fruits and the wind has caused it to bend a little. This diagonal force causes your eyes to travel from the tree to the boat ready for loading. To give impact on the significance of the seashore, I used fine sand adding a rich texture to its presentation. The waves playfully come rushing to the shore to make contact and communication to the main resident, the saba tree. “I take delight in your company”, they say to each other. And they lived happily ever after. I like happy endings, don’t you
