Artwork Description:
An exact copy I made of Renoirs 1886 painting, Young Lady With a Cat which hangs in the National Gallery of Art, in Washington, D. C. By copying great paintings I can apprentice myself to masters of painting. This experience introduced me to viridian green oil paint, and I learned how often Renoir adjusted his brush strokes with a rag. I finished this painting with a patinated craclique varnish, furthering the illusion of its antiquity. Zoom in.
