Artwork Description:

The Mūlādhāra Chakra or the Root Chakra is the first chakra. It’s located at the base of the spine. The word Muladhara breaks down into two Sanskrit words: Mula meaning “root” and Adhara, which means “support” or “base”, and is red in color. Muladhara is considered the foundation of the chakra system. Muladhara is associated with the earth element and directly linked to your ability to dig in and feel firmly rooted in your life. In this art, the Goddess has roots that are grounding her and she is spreading out like a tree. Seven Tusked ‘Airavat’, the king of the elephants, is the animal associated with this Chakra. He represents the destruction of all evil and provides stability and support in life. The primary function of this chakra is excretion... both physical and emotional negativity is removed by an activated root chakra. In my art, the goddess has an open cage on her branch, with black birds with escaping. It symbolizes getting rid of all unwanted negativity, thus excreting toxic emotional waste. The tree is attracting white birds, which symbolize pure, healing energy. The ‘Kundalinī ‘ is coiled around the goddess’s waist. The Kundalinī, or the ‘coiled one’ in Hinduism refers to a form of primal energy said to be located at the base of the spine. Once awakened , it can climb up the chakras one by one and lead to deep enlightenment and salvation. The goddess ‘Bhairavi’ is located in the Kundalinī.
