Artwork Description:
Mozart was a brilliant composer and this caused a lot of jealousy and hatred among his colleagues. One of his biggest enemies was the mediocre Italian court composer Salieri, who tried to make Mozarts life as miserable as possible. He was later accused of poisoning Mozart, but this was never proven to be true. In this painting Salieri, his face contorted by anger and resentment, is aiming a dagger at Mozart and his Muse, who does not insipre him, Salieri, any more. The canvas of the painting has a rip, caused by the knife of jealousy.
