This is an impressionist painting of three horses frightened by an unknown event offstage. The piece is given drama by the vigorous application of thick impasto paint. At the time 2005 it was one of the hardest pieces I had completed, as it was worked entirely from imagination and required absolute control to apply the fast brush strokes that created the figures.
