Artwork Description:

Oil and 18kt gold leaf on wood. The writing in the gold leaf is Tibetan. Before I knew the translation I made the Tibetan Sanskrit and painted the Lotus. I could not wait for my monk friend from Nepal (who will be teaching me Tibetan Sanskrit in the near future) to translate this Mantra. Before I painted the Lotus I only knew the writing to be one of the Tibetan Buddhists most common Mantras. So off I went painting what I thought would look nice under this beautiful writing. Well I was shocked to find out the meaning after I finished When my friend got back to me. " The Jewel is in the Lotus".
