  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Einav Zilber - As an art lover, I want to see art not only in the museum or gallery but rather see art in my daily surroundings of where I live. Be it the hair dresser, a book shop, a cafe or the local launderette. I think there's something exciting about being able to see art everywhere, stop for a moment (or more) from the days' work and hectic life we live, to look and explore new realms of creation and give me another look and maybe even a glimpse to the creativity and life of others. This idea had been on my mind for a while, bit by bit I could see it come to life in Tel Aviv, where I live, not just the events the municipality make, but rather small initiatives. As a photographer it gives me a lot of space to enjoy and create. I call it Art Around. ...

Lisa Rasmussen - ARTIST'S STATEMENT Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated with the liminal ---- the neither here nor there, the betwixt or the in-between. The ancient Celts called this state Caol-ait or "thin places," where the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds merge. When I paint, I penetrate a threshold that allows me to enter this realm of consciousness, where one can explore the interflow between soul and matter, and between time and eternity. It is a realm of pure possibility. My art is a recorded event of my deep interest in mysticism and the natural world, as well as a passageway into my own mythical inversion of reality. I see my paintings as portals; visual archives that tap into my unconscious. My surfaces are painted over layers of symbols and forms, recalling cave walls and ritual chambers. Many of my paintings are inspired by my study of ancient cultures and travel to sacred sites around the globe where animistic worldviews encompassed a belief in a magical Other World. I believe that art is intrinsic to the nurturance of the human spirit and that artists' true essence is transformative. In all my work I seek ...

Bernhard Luettmer - The project is to create the image with a short composition as I wanted at times I took in here. Timing and movements of the camera or the machinery are important resources. Photography is listen to the world as we hear a beloved piece of music. For example: I see a tree just in vegetation, the wind gentle caresses the new leaves, the light shines and you hear all this on the skin. Now take a picture with the knowledge that this concentration and on the negative is something of the feeling....

Amit Bar - In 1950 I was born in Kibbutz Kfar Hamaccabi, Israel, where I lived until 1988. As a kibbutz-member I was not able to take a complete study at an art-college. Therefore I followed evening-lessons drawing for many years. In 1984 I finally got the permission to study creative art at the university. My study at the university of Haifa was combined with Comparative Literature and took three years. I have learned there a lot about various forms of Creative Art. As follows, I decided to dedicate my interest on photography. My final project was children photography. Since 1988 I live in Doetinchem, The Netherlands, and work as a freelance-photographer and painter. In my commercial work I take photographs for a stock agency and make commissioned work. Wishing to combine my photography with drawing and painting, I began to mix them in my artistic work. It began in 1992 with photo collages and took another form in 1996 with body-paintings. Thank you very much for your visit. I wish you lots of pleasure on my gallery and my site, at www.amitbar.com! Amit Bar....

Marilyn Nosewicz - Photography, and Painting are like Magic, Joy , My Birthday, and Christmas all wrapped into one good feeling. I wait for my image to appear in my darkroom, the world stops for that time. I truely live in the moment. Finally I see my images appear before my eyes like magic. I work in Photography Silver Gelatin Black and White primarily and Color Photography. My Painting degree is from Syracuse University. My Silver Gelatin Black and White Photography work is hand printed in the darkroom. I also work in Color Photography, and now also Digital. All my materials are archival. All work is signed and dated. Please Sign my mailing list, or my Guest book, I would like to hear from you. Thank you for looking at my work. ...

Karen Morecroft - My work is primarily based on my experiences of the city, including my travels through the US & Europe. Documentation is an important feature of my work as it is where I collect my source material, which is a key element to the images I create. My work relies on photographic and found imagery along with collected objects from many varied sources, including the mass media. Layering, repetition and opacity are key elements of of my work that strive to reflect a certain nostalgia....

Gregory Prescott - He who shines the light that reflects off the skin, intricately created masterpieces, one by one, with much detail like fingers to touch, eyes to see and lips to kiss. He who shines the light gave her breast to feed, feet to walk the land and a tongue to taste the fruit that dangle from the branches that sway to the breeze from his breath. Our bodies are the testimony of the first creation of art. We wear the light like it is a robe. And I reveal to you the true beauty that I see. We are the result of his fine art. My models become the earth, the emotional Ocean, sensuous exotic creatures, tempting forbidden fruit. My work consists of an array of photographs of portraits and nudes. With my work, I allow everyone to see the true and outstanding beauty of a woman's curves, the fullness of her lips, the textures of her hair and the grace in the extensions of her arms. I also display the broadness in the man's back, the signs of struggle in his shoulders and the determination in his eyes. In my photographs, one may witness the essence, sensuality, strong ...

Alison Watt Jackson - I find myself drawn to photographing ordinary images that most commonly are overlooked or passed by. In addition to photographing the "ordinary" into something extraordinary, I personally find myself drawn to old, and discarded objects and the stories they have to tell. I have a tremendous amount of empathy and connection to such treasures. ...
