Marcelo Maia - Since 1991 I have used photography as the vehicle for discourses on sexuality. Beginning with the sex and money project, the metaphoric images of gogo dancers with cash belts were used to posit a bridge between the viewer, the concept of sexuality and it's relation to money. Next in the book Prometheus, the topic transposes to sexuality and racism. I redirect the Greek myth of the creation of man from the Caucasus to his known anthropological origins in Africa. By producing sensuous portraits of African-American men, I aimed to modulate the cultural image of both God and creation from the white marble to the black skin. The trilogy on sexuality will close with a book on the topic of Sex and Power which I'm working on. Certain that if art has the power to liberate people of their prejudices, I believe that self-awareness requires the analysis of sexuality. Sex has to be understood and not just looked at as tabu material or as a commodity , objectified and but not really discussed. It's time to grow up, to be able to talk openly about ourselves without fear of being labeled and dismissed. Lately I've been ...
Rachel Schneider - Rachel Schneider is an American Photographer well received by the American artistic community. Ms. Schneider's works have been regularly exhibited in galleries throughout the state of Texas. Her academic credentials include 5 years of formal study at Sam Houston State University in Texas as well as training at the Texas School for Professional Photography. Ms. Schneider prefers to photograph in Black and White; however, she also uses color film. Her images yield a very different and crisp vantage point of life. A trained eye will find her images to be high in contrast and highly detailed. When photographing, Ms. Schneider contemplates every technical and artistic aspect of the image in her mind before she even considers pushing the shutter. She believes in finding the subject, determining the tonal values, then taking the picture that completely utilizes the negative's space. Ms. Schneider does not believe in wasting any silver on the negative, and therefore, does not crop her images during the printing process. Critics have noted that her photographic style has the characteristics of Straight Photography and Documentary Photography. Ms. Schneider's portfolio contains images from her travels around the United States, England, Singapore, Tokyo and Malaysia. Her passion ...

Corrie Mccluskey - My photography explores themes of "place" (as a repository of memory and symbol, and as a cultural artifact), the passage of time, looking at the forbidden and forgotten. I've searched out sites that touch the deeper emotions - places that are hard to look at, or where those in charge don't want us to see. This is a commitment to finding the "truth" (if there is such a thing) and a reminder of our choices as human beings. My method is to do a kind of street survey, focusing on buildings & industrial warehouses, prisons, train stations, cityscapes, graffiti and architectural details, using ambient light. I study how people have interacted with their environment and how the space can take on a life of its own, often with ghosts in every corner. Many of my images are of settings that people have left behind like empty skins. It seems the world is increasingly a very difficult place to live for so many - perhaps we've entered a new dark age - and I'm needing to focus my attention (and my camera) on social issues, starting right in my own back yard. I've begun a longterm project, "Within a Ten-...

Henning Von Berg -
Bob Bennett - All my work is done in a *very* simple, traditional darkroom - One enlarger, four trays, and a collection of hand tools made from things you can buy at any art supply, or hardware store. Though I work digitally (making web graphics), nothing in either the assignment or art portfolio has been made by a computer. I print only two or three'original' copies of an image, overwhelmingly on 16x20, in black and white. All color is by hand, a combination of watercolor, and Marshall oils. If you are an assignment client, that's your repro material. ( Everyone who has ever gotten it, has been'tickled pink'.) Art portfolio prints are made from 4x5 copy negatives of the'master/originals'. There are'second' master prints available, but not of every image. I've been doing this work since the early'80's, and I've written quite a few artists' statements about the art portfolio work. The more time goes by, the less aedequate words seem to be, and the less interested I am in trying to talk about the pictures at all. ( If words could'do it' ... I'd be a writer ... but you've noticed, I am not one....) ...
