Artists Describing Their Art:

Laurent Ziegler - My work is about capturing moments that move and shift boundaries, a search for corners and spaces inside the process of work. The connecting point in my ambitions and dreams, not just as a photographer but foremost as a human being, is the desire to communicate stories, discover tales that seem hidden from the spectator and yet remain open to the inquisitive eye. Looking back, my life has taken some different directions and occasionally it felt random and without orientation. However, working for political parties and finishing my studies, doing editorial work, later photography and contemporary dance, I kept searching for a similar content, for a bigger picture that holds memory and allows to grasp what seems true and valid throughout time. The word unstill crossed my mind when I enrolled in dance photography in 1998. A new world opened up and I thought about the nature of stills, the ability to sense change and the in balance of time, the latter captured like a freeze in a singe moment. the word holds a different connotation in German. Still stands for silence and unstill implies the absence of it. I am currently collaborating with contemporary artists in Vienna, Milan and ...

Markus Kruse - In Washington, Trump is mostly seen only when he chooses. At a lectern in the Rose Garden. Saluting as he boards Marine One. Behind the Resolute Desk of the Oval Office signing jumbo-sized executive orders, pushing his red button to summon a butler with Diet Coke or flashing a thumbs up from his high-backed cherry leather chair. But a nine-day, marathon foreign trip that concluded Saturday here in Sicily has offered the first extended aEUR" and often unfiltered, thanks to the steady stream of raw camera footage provided by his host countries aEUR" look at Trump on the world stage. Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. I use digital photography and imaging to envision the concepts originating from the creative pulse. An individual artist explores and gives the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. Nancy Bechtol - Craig Goldwyn - The idea is to communicate. To reveal something new in what we see around us every day, a kernel of truth, an essence, a distillation, an idea. To make a spark that could ignite a mind. To me, sharing an idea is like sharing a meal. There is an intimacy and conviviality that comes with sharing. I revel in it as I would a great bottle of wine. For more about my methods and approach, go to

Russet Andrew - If a photograph can tell a story, then Vladimir Andreyev tells epics. Hailed as the "Tolstoy of photography," Andreyev specializes in recording nature at its most exquisite moments. In many of Andreyev's photographs, the sky occupies three-quarters of the picture, thereby offering sweeping views of the sky and setting the mood of each piece. Each picture creates a different mood, depending on the perspective and the quality of light; the artist sets an emotional tone of foreboding drama or quiet reflection. Andreyev's eye for beauty lends an almost painterly quality to his work, with their lush colors and romantic compositions. The artist states that his goal is to create a "poetic photograph" that transforms nature into something inspiring. Originally from Russia, Andreyev began his work as a photographer after he moved to the U.S. His award-winning work is exhibited in private collections across the U.S. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York....

Joanna A. Rytel - Few words about me My journey through the world of art began in Warsaw, Poland in 1965. As a 7 year old I attended an art class with my best friend Marysia. The subject matter might not have been the most ambitious, but the passion for expressing myself through various forms of art remains. Since that first art class I have dipped my fingers in many art forms like oil painting, mixed media, ceramic, mosaic, and photography. I love them all. To me, the most important thing about art is not the form, but the feeling. The feeling of being, of living. 20 years ago I moved to the United States with my daughter Dorota. Soon after arriving here I got involved in the Chicago art scene. In 1991 Gosia Garbalska and I established a non for profit organization called Art Moves International, which was devoted to artist exchange between Eastern Europe and the United States. Later on I represented Polish artists as the curator of Gallery 58, and helped organize many exhibits and art events such as Around the Coyote. After a long period of playing the role of art curator, I decided to focus on my own development ...

Harvey Horowitz - The artistic philosophy that has inspired me in composing my photographs over the last fifty plus years is really quite simple: It is to capture something extraordinary in what is otherwise commonplace to the casual observer. I am fortunate that the gallery which represents me in Montreal, Beaux Arts David Astrof, has shared my point of view. While the artist's conception is important in-so-far-as it expresses something original (and/or freshens how we perceive the world around us), I believe it is equally important that the concept be inspiring and not merely cleverly unique. Photography is not currently my main source of income. My livelihood is management consultation work which takes me around the world. It is traveling, with its expatriate experience of being apart from the familiar, which infects my vision and shapes my choice of perspective. This fuels my inspiration to create a photograph imbued with the magic of that particular setting at that particular moment in time. While travel is a big part of what motivates my creative process, it is this "stranger in a strange land" experience which influences all my work. In my last solo exhibition with Beaux Arts David Astrof, ...

Regole estetiche ...

Naomi White - My work reflects moments of becoming: gazing at ourselves in the process of constructing a presence. I am interested in rituals performed in private - of mental, emotional and physical preparation with which to present ourselves to the world. ...
