Artists Describing Their Art:

Alkistis Wechsler - Reality meets myths. Personal visual impressions of chosen English gardens ... lately also Mediterranean seaside, are coming together in imaginative collages and alchemic transformation. . Sensitive to the environment as well as to human interactions and expressions it all translates into visual myths . Not only travels between geographical points, but also a thirst for such trips in the mind through myths and readings of initiatic rituals of metamorphosis, infiltrated as well my art of painting. At the end, every archetype (for example Heliogabalus, Persephone and Artemis) and every movement reaches back to the source of rhythm and scales creating a personal mythology and so I understand my self and the world after each painting is done by a hypersensitive process and not a premeditated rational plan. The seasons or the elements and their rhythm are interwoven with my vision of human soul and the soul of the sea ...

Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. I use digital photography and imaging to envision the concepts originating from the creative pulse. An individual artist explores and gives the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. Michael Prochnik - When I first started photographing, I was driven by the desire to communicate to my family and friends my travels, but as my photography progressed I realized it was mainly the people that I saw around me that became the main focus of my pictures. When I chose my best photos, I realized that my favorites choices were not based on their technical merits but rather on the feeling I got from the subjects in those images. Even when I became a professional photographer, I was still drown back to the first images I have ever taken, and to the feeling I get from those images, which in essence is my aim when photographing, and my wish for others to share. Thanks for visiting my page, and I hope you enjoy the images. Michael ...

Manolis Tsantakis - The subject "Woman and Nature" which is the title of my photographs, It becomes an endless source of inspiration. Nature is perfect but also so fickle. The lighting and weather interchanges during a day could be unbelievable. Nature some times has a melancholic mood, but it could also elevate your senses. It offers tranquility and happiness, but also fear and insecurity. Woman, as a female gender by nature, matches perfectly with Nature, and it create within me, exactly the same feelings. It is a constant challenge for me, to tie together in perfect harmony these two live elements and create images of dreams and fantasy. ...

C. A. Hoffman - For me, my artwork is very personal. It reflects a lot about how I am feeling at any given time and place. I feel that art has to be on this personal level to completely capture how the artist is feeling daily, or trying to convey a certain thought or emotion at that particular moment. We all, at one time or another try to express our thoughts or ideas, whether it is to others or just to ourselves, by words, actions, ideas or pictures. If we are sucessful in this attempt, I think it shows through in our everyday work or art. I believe that one is either born to create art naturally or by learning. For me, I feel that I was born with this wonderful gift, and I try to improve upon it every day. In my photos and art, I hope to show how everyday objects and nature can capture our imaginations and feelings. Sometimes I work with an image to improve it, inhance it, or just to fuel the imagination. I truly hope this shows in all of my art. ...

Corrie Ancone - Artist statement : "I don't care for the certainty of what's in front of my lens, but the creativity, the fantasy, the invention, that can gush from a thought before or thereafter. Between the certain and the uncertain there is a possible space, as in dreams and fables. Heavily influenced by mythology, nature and the techniques and working styles of the early European Dadaists, Impressionists and Baroque artists, my creativity stems from my lust for finding and exploring sympathies between the human body, the landscape and its textures. Oscillating between transparency and opacity, colours and images collide in my work, creating new visual and emotional images, often painterly and somewhat surreal, which affect perceptions of natural reality. This is sometimes described as 'synthetic realism'." Corrie Ancone ...

Kerwin Williamson - In a way urban photography is like exploration; visual, mental and emotional. And when it comes to a city, its more then just the streets, monuments, iconic locations & structures. Its the little things, moments "seen" by few, major & minor changes, the weather briefly altering the city's mood and the way you feel. As New York's architecture (my current photographic interest) continues to change (reshaping various area's bit by bit) its gives the photographer / visual artist another aspect of the city to explore; not just the structures but its parts, aspects and relation to its environment. Geometric simplicity, the pattern of lines that alter the skyline, at times create shapes in conjunction with the other buildings. Heavy usage of glass (& or similar material) that creates a gleaming / semi-reflective quality that is changing the urban landscape, producing a powerful visual. When you explore its the journey and the subject that leads you towards greater understanding and a broader perception....
