My adventure into painting began when I was in my early 30s. I have been raised in a home where handmade things are everywhere and music was just another language I grew up in. So unsurprisingly, when I reached a stage in my life where I needed some new form of expression, I turned to art. Always an independent learner, I did not see the need to get another degree I already finished a degree in Psychology. I just poured all my attention into drawing and painting. Two decades of painting almost everyday is something I would never exchange for a 4-year Fine Arts degree. I was clear with what kind of artist I wanted to become, and I sifted through what I could get to hone the skills and grow as a painter. I love painting portraits, although I have expanded the range of my subjects through the years. Now, it is not so much the subject I paint which excites me, but the love of painting itself which sustains me in my work. My awareness of my surrounding has been heightened to a certain level, always seeing something beautiful to paint, even in the most ordinary everyday surroundings. As a painter, a different way of seeing things, is what I wish to share with the world. I hope my work gets to bring the viewers to a certain level of appreciation for what is. I have never seen it this way before, and oh wow, isnt this beautiful. That is what I hope I get to bring to people.
