Artist Statement

I am a painter who is mostly working with oils and watercolor. The subject matter of my paintings varies depending on the issue which I want to portray. Whenever I get a chance, I enjoy painting human form, especially human faces, because I believe it is beautiful, classic and it shows emotions better than anything else.

I am interested in traditional European renaissance painting style which inspires me deeply. Great renaissance artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Van Eyck, and Titian have a huge influence on me when I plan an oil painting, because their attention to detail, use of colors and soft painting truly amazes me. Also, Alfons Mucha is one of the more modern artists whose style I admire and interested in when it comes to watercolor, because he does not only use color, as most renaissance artists do to represent forms, but also applies dark lines that varies in depth to create a sense of light and shadow, which also brings a more modern graphic look to his work.

My goal is to master those styles and become one of the best artists who are working in the same European traditional painting style. In addition, I plan on sharing my knowledge with college students after I obtain a masters degree in fine arts. ...
