My name is Anna Pozdniakova. I was born in Russia, Saint-Petersburg and currently reside in Ottawa, Canada. From early age I was surrounded by arts, fashion, sculptures and astonishing and grandiose architecture that is abundant in my native city. I took art, photography, fashion design and sculpture classes throughout my childhood and adolescence. I became serious about art later in my adult life in part from being unfulfilled with my day job, in part from the need to express myself and go back and live my passion on daily basis.
Acrylics, bright or primary and secondary colors are the medium I use the most in my painting for their simplicity, easily achievable contrast and basic state/substance.
I believe in a statement by Paul Cezanne who said:
“A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art”.
My paintings are enormously influenced and are a final result of my mood, my surroundings, my feelings and thoughts on a canvas. Through them I wish to astonish, seduce, disturb and shock people.
