Artist Statement

Artur Kaliński - the artist (graphic designer, photographer, painter, sculptor), is an advisor on the modern art market. He creates original paintings, giving them the ultimate look by flakes of pure gold. He uses a minimalist form to express feelings and emotions. His work forces the viewer for deeper analysis and reflection on the message. Delicate subtleties that emphasize using the contrast between light and shadow play an important role. He draws his inspiration from such masters as Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt van Rijn and Jan Vermeer.

The main component in his paintings is light. Not only does it creates a certain kind of story, but it also indicates the hierarchy. Highlighting the important details, he extracts them from the background, but also hides other details, it happens deforms them. The artist's paintings of light and shadow creates a climate of secrecy, and very visible layers of paint make the three-dimensional character seem more realistic.

Artur Kalinski's work focuses mainly on the human body, whose dynamic poses and surprising shots intrigue and trigger emotions. The world presented in his work has an emotional character. Among the characters are women. Author gives them a smooth line of bodies, the subtlety of the hand, radiant smooth skin and remarkable delicacy. These features make that women in his paintings exude quiet sensuality. Kaliński paints his works in stages, each time improving and properly grooming the individual details.

The artist is fascinated by the black-and-white photograph. His images often provide inspiration for traditional paintings. He uses a computer to process them, and only in the next step moves a brush to canvas. He works according to the recommendations of the old masters, of painting uses light and shadow, creating the shape of the forms submitted. These techniques result in maximum excitement.

Artur Kaliński painted a series of paintings entitled "Shadow and gold in light" under the name "Women's shapes". These are eight paintings painted with pure gold. The limited collection shows the beauty of the female figure in a very minimalist way. Kalinski is also the author of the collection entitled "Intimately", which is composed of 10 images presenting the study of the relationship between man and woman. This is a continuation of previous images from the collection "Femine Shape".

Among his works there is a collection entitled "Woman in Blue", 11 paintings painted with only two colors. They represent the feminine silhouette in shades of blue. The continuation of this series is a collection called "Woman in blue - a new scene."

Wishing to capture time and spaciousness, the artist recently created a specific collection that can be defined as the installation of paintings based on relief. In this collection, he placed his son's face mask. His son served as a model. Each of the 10 new works shows his varied facial expressions.

Arthur Kaliński is very active as a defender of free speech. In October of last year he defended Russian art and freedom of local artists, organizing a protest against the hypocrisy of the Russian authorities and the lack of freedom of expression in the Russian artistic community. Then he tried to pass to the representative of the Russian Embassy his own painting titled "Angel of Death", which was intended for President Putin.

May 5, 2015 year in Warsaw, in front of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage happening took place under the slogan "Poland Young Art is dying!", organized by Artur Kalinski, which is opposed to the lack of support and promotion of young artists in Poland and abroad. The coffin with the installation covered with pure gold, placed in front of the entrance to the ministry, symbolized the catastrophic situation of young Polish visual arts. The appeal called on the Minister Malgorzata Omilanowska to take concrete actions that will protect the young Polish art from total collapse. Artur Kalinski’s protest met with great interest of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The letter sent by the artist to the Minister was personally received by the Director General of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage who promised to examine concrete proposals and suggestions of the artist, which is not common practice in this type of offices....
