Artist Statement

Marigmen received a MFA in 1993 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He studied architecture at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, attended University of London and taught art history at the Louvre in Paris. In 1999, he showcased/curated over 50 exhibits in the USA. In 2000, he assumed the role as Director of Art Etc. where he has been a driving force in the community and has helped establish some of the city's premier arts-related events including the annual Dandelion Wine Arts Festivals. In 2005 he received the Jack Benny Humanitarian Award, he was inducted to the Filipino-American Hall of Fame in 2004, he received Chicago's Friends Of The Arts-Service to the Community Award in 2002. He has been featured in Artbeat, Artscope, MR Magazine and Abitare. Since 1987, he has produced over 1,000 original art and has exhibited at close to 200 galleries including venues in Milan, London and Paris. Currently, he is VP/Partner of Tovoli Neckwear where he manufactures original & limited edition "wearable art" for clientele such as Fred Hayman's of Beverly Hills and Marshall Fields. Tovoli ties have been featured in programs like Wheel of Fortune, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Day & Date and Geraldo Rivera Show. Marigmen's art have been shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Milwaukee Art Museum, Elmhurst Art Museum and been part of set/scenes for films like Little Heroes and Chicago's production Cheap Show....
