Artist Statement -

Statement
I feel deep gratitude when I reflect on my work as a painter in this space I inhabit. My appreciation for the gift of work, the beauty of discipline, the satisfaction realized by completion strengthens me day by day. Titanic excitement up-wells from within when I approach a canvas with paint and tool.

What happens next still begs my mind for explanation as the wings of intuition to take me away.

When I look back at how this all began and see where I am today, I am satisfied with what is and eager to work out what is to be. As the goose flys high to see its way forward so too my reach is high as I press on.

What is an artist statement Honestly it is about issues like my insecurity of being self-taught or my ambition to reach the heights. It involves being inspired by other artists, standing on their shoulders when possible by using what they have done to move forward with what I will do.

The images that lurk inside me come and go like hobos that have been riding the rails for what seem like dozens of centuries. They present themselves in full color and form. I have but seconds to take in each image before the next comes and the next until I tire and fall asleep.

I describe myself as a post Precambrian nouveau Neolithic constructionist of the new old school just do it tradition. As I search the forest of questions over what comes next an irresistible momentum moves me confidently from one problem right on to the next.
Often, I am spirited to the realization that creating art is a great problem and thus the problem is the problem.

In summary Ill say, “Making the art is the art. What ends up on a board or canvas is merely an artifact that has been left behind by the art”.
