One of the roots of my inspiration can perhaps be found in a quote from Aristotle - The aim of art is to not represent the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance. I am attracted to painting simple everyday objects. My attraction is not only for the beautiful shape, color, and texture of an object but also its essence. Simple objects have the ability to triggers strong memories or emotions transporting the mind of a viewer into the past.
My compositions are happy, playful, and nostalgic with the use of color and patterns. I love incorporating patterns into my paintings. Patterned backgrounds take the eyes of my viewer on a journey to all corners of the canvas. Different patterns stir up different feelings or emotions which adds to the character of each painting. I strive to create paintings that make everyone joyously smile.
