Artist Statement -

Conrado Dominguez, a Mexican artist, was born in 1950 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Defined by Carlos Fuentes as the "painter of light and sun", his professional trajectory spans more than forty years. His training, which began in 1965 at the National School of Visual Arts, was broadened in 1975 when he received a scholarship from the French government to study at the Atelier Rohner - École Supérieur des Arts Décoratifs. Later, he joined the Atelier 17 engraving studio of Stanley William Hayter in Paris. Upon his return to Mexico in 1979, he has done research on techniques and materials, which has allowed him to create a style of his own that is highly original.

He has had more than forty five individual shows and three hundred and twenty group shows in Mexico, Europe, the U.S., Central America and the Caribbean. His murals are found in Cagliari, Italy; San Juan, Puerto Rico and Miami, Florida. Five of these are on permanent exhibition at the World Trade Center in Mexico City. His work belongs to prestigious collections, among which can be found those of the Presidency of the Mexican Republic, the Public Registry of Property and Commerce, the museums of Potosi and Mayan Culture, the Pape Library in Monclova, Mexico, as well as the Absolut Vodka collection in New York, besides having works in important collections in Spain, Belgium, Germany and Israel, among others. In the year 2009, he was invited to participate in the seventh edition of the Biennial Exhibition of International Contemporary Art in Florence, Italy.
