Artist Statement

Diana Kirsten Gibson is a painter of the traditional manner. Ms. Gibson began to study oil painting at the Ridgewood Art Institute in 1997 with internationally known artist and teacher, John Phillip Osborne.

In the pursuit of excellence, many long hours are applied to the study of fine painting. Whether it is inside a north-lit studio or outside on location, time is dedicated to the comprehension of the various effects and moods of nature. Studying directly from nature, Diana has a goal to recreate life on canvas by focusing upon capturing prismatic light and atmospheric effects. Landscape studies are conducted in Europe, Canada the Caribbean and extensively throughout New Jersey and Texas. The artist paints various subjects including landscapes, portraits, and still life.

The artist has been accepted into such prestigious shows as the American Artists Professional League, NYC; Hudson Valley Art Association, NYC; Ringwood Manor Association of Arts, NJ; Audubon Artists, NYC; Allied Artists of America, NYC, etc. Awards received include second place in oils 2000, first place in oils 2001, Grumbacher Gold Medal 2003 and Best of Show 2005 from the Ringwood Manor Arts Association. Several galleries represent her work. She is the founder of the Plein Air Painters of the New Jersey Highlands....
