My mother took me to the local Louisville Kentucky Jewish Community Center around 1960 to place me in an art class, so she could play Mah Jong and kaluki and poker. Several hours later I would be picked up by my mother. Most of the children were 8-12 years old but the teacher did decide Ro accept me. It would be 1970 at age 15 that I would meet my first Art Professor Memphis Artist Marilyn Califf. She let me share her studio in east Memphis Duplex on Brennan Street, Memphis, Tennessee. At age 16 I painted in Birmingham Alabama and at age 17 seriously painted on a regular basis and I have to say I have been in the art business for 40 years!

In 1976 I met Betty Parsons Artist Marjorie Liebman and studied with her for 15 years plus! And in 1982 I met my second teacher Dorothy Sturm another Betty Parsons Artist. In 1981 I was sent to NYC to meet Miss Parsons, although Betty Parsons died six months later. She promised me a one man show but it was too late.

In 1983 I was discovered by Memphis Designer and Businessman John Simmons and was made Director of his gallery Aesthetic Gallery Poplar Plaza in East Memphis for several years. There I was to meet international artist Charles Inzer.

There is a whole lot more I am leaving out but will continue to edit my art life history as my memory allows!...
