Repetition, pattern and visual sensation are key aspects of my work. I draw with pen and ink onto large surface areas, particularly wood or paper. The drawings cannot be rectified if a mistake is made; therefore precision and concentration are of the utmost importance. I am particularly interested in circles after exploring their possibilities in my recent work. My practice involves taking a simple form and multiplying it to create visually enticing patterns. When I repeat the form and place it in a calculated manner it creates a complex pattern. The eye is unable to focus on one point and results in the viewer concentrating harder. This creates intense visual sensation and once this has been achieved it can lead to a hypnotic state of mind. I also experience a psychological connection with my work during the long and laborious production process. Repeating the same action over and over again with precision on a large scale is a time consuming process; however, finishing a piece is very satisfying.
I am in the process of compiling my past and current exhibition opportunities.
