As the second son of a family of nine children, I was born in Veldhoven in the south of the Netherlands and now live and work there in nearby Best. From a technical education background I started painting realistic paintings in 1983. As a self-taught artist, I learned the trade by looking at many paintings by old Dutch and Flemish masters and through contacts with contemporary painters. All my paintings are made in oil on panel. My work often includes everyday things, often including fruit. I put the composition that I plan to paint in my studio in a dark box under subtle lighting to create a clair-obscious atmosphere to which I also strive in my paintings. like bread and fruit. So lifelike, and actually no bigger than in real life,

My paintings, except in the Netherlands, have been exhibited and sold in countries such as Belgium, France, Hong Kong, India, Italy, New Zealand, Oman, Taiwan and Qatar.
