Artist Statement -



“In my work and life, I’m seeking my true self. Using subjects familiar to me, in abstract or representational, I explore that which moves me. My work comes from what I see …the abstracts surround me.” , states Joseph Piccillo. His willingness to observe, feel, learn, and work from nature manifests the depth and sensitivity this artist has developed towards his subject. Working in acrylics and watercolors, Piccillo’s works convey a mood of quiet monumentality, sensitivity and subtle strength. Skillfully executed, abstract, yet hinting at the representational, Piccillo has immersed himself in the process of painting, continually adjusting his feeling for space, light and form demonstrate his keen sense of perspective and insight into composition complimented by subtle color variations. Joseph Piccillo, a resident of Bucks County and Key West has had numerous exhibitions in America and Italy since the early eighties. He is currently represented by Susan Eley Fine Arts, New York and Acosta Strong Fine Art Sante Fe, NM.
