Julie Fisher Artist
statement
The majority my work is abstract painting my main interests are colour and depth.
I am also interested in engaging the viewer. I am extremely influenced by 60’s – 70’s art and culture its the essence of the time that inspires me finding some thing new, freedom, experimentation and colour.
My current work began with inspiration from festival atmosphere light shows, pyrotechnics and specifically the Glade at Glastonbury and Wacken (a German music festival). As this work developed it became more about the paint its self the way it flows by itself or can be controlled, the way colours influence mood.
Within the work I try to recreate the atmosphere of a festival and what is most important, its having fun doing things you wouldn’t normally do, getting away from the stress of everyday life- escapism.
This reflects how I have been painting more freely and as a result I was able to effectivelt convey the festival spirit and feelings of euphoria.
By making positive work using bright colour and drawing on these experiences I hope to have a positive effect on the people who see it.
