Artist Statement

For many artists, drawing/painting plays an active role in the dialogue between art and design.
Drawing is not always a means of representation or a transitional process. Sometimes, ‘it is the
translation of life’s activities into a material line or a stroke on canvas’. Art can be described as:
‘a way of expressing our interpretation of the lives we live, …’. An artist sees and creates art
everywhere: at the kitchen table, on the bus, in a park, with friends... It is not something you can
just pick up, but something you live: it becomes as unconscious an act as blinking and breathing....
