I create landscape paintings and mixed media artworks. By exploring the concept of landscape in a nostalgic way, I investigate the dynamics of landscape, including the manipulation of its effects and the limits of spectacle based on our assumptions of what landscape means to us. Rather than presenting a factual reality, I create illusions fabricated to conjure our imagination.
My paintings establish a link between the landscape’s reality and that which is imagined by the viewer, focusing on concrete questions regarding our existence and experience. By applying abstraction, I create work in which a fascination with the clarity of content and an attitude towards conceptual and minimal art can be found.
My mixed media work does not always reference recognizable form. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. With a minimalistic approach, I create personal moments, with images culled from the fantastical realm of imagination.
