Artist Statement -

Defacing people in a form of paper planes, the artist reinstates uncertain trajectory and creates poetic statements drawing attention to uniformity of fundamental elements of harmonic co-existence. Social belonging and acceptance, family ties, finding and keeping love, exploring the world and purpose of life are the common subjects of Yuliya’s creations. Her artistic practice splits into two main periods developed in parallel where she creates series of compelling discussions on canvas and wood panels. The Migration series - Adolescence. Questioning fragility of perceived freedom while dismantling the laws of perspective and loosing balance of light and depth within medium and large scale canvases. The Migration brings to life dreamy artworks filled with myriads or stand alone paper planes resonating behaviour of a crowd or an individual. The Toy Story series, is the childhood realm. It is almost exclusively a paper based arena to allow her preservation of spontaneity and curiosity of the inner child. Through interactive cartoon like characters inspired by Noo Dolls London toy makers, Yuliya creates her own interpretation of religious stories, traditional values, manuscripts adventures and other issues of importance. She developed technique allowing to transforms subtle watercolours into vibrant and powerful burst of energy enriching delicate textured surfaces with thought provoking abstracts, stories and portraits. Born in Kazakhstan in 1980. Moved to the UK in 2005. Full time artist since April 2015 after quitting her career in Wealth Management.
