Artist Statement -

Through my art I try to explore innermost emotions within myself. Each of my work is born from a very personal journey and is a snapshot of a state of mind and sole in one specific moment in time. My characters, at times myself, are portrayed in subtle human moments, when we dare to take the mask off, letting the inner self shine through if only for split second. These precious split seconds are what I try to capture, save and cherish.

We all, and so my characters, respond differently to life’s challenges - by conforming, rebelling, accepting, renouncing. These are the stories told by my canvases.
The catalyst for my art are my travels, self-discovery it entails and people I meet along the way, in remote train stations, in hectic cities on rout to the unknown, unmasked and bare soled.

While concept of my pieces tends to be somewhat intovertive and blue, I make up for it by using vibrant, light colours. This is my way of not taking myself too seriously. By creating this contrast, I try to convey message of optimism, that even in our darkest moments, we can’t help but retain curious mind, be adventurous, cheeky, sexual, funny. There is no love of life without despair of life. I try to combine these two in my canvases.

I am originally from Tbilisi, Georgia. I have been drawing and painting since I was a toddler. I started attending art classes at the age of 6 and was later admitted to Art School at State University of Tbilisi. Throughout my time at Art School, I took part in many group exhibitions and was awarded a Diploma of Excellency for the best work of art for my submission at graduation exhibition held on behalf of the university. Later I continued my education in Political Science and achieved my Master’s Degree in International Relations. At different times I lived and worked in Georgia, UK, Spain and Australia.
Currently I am based in Melbourne.

Albert Camus once said: “A work of art is a confession”

My canvases will tell you more about me, than I could ever be comfortable with putting in words.
