Artist Statement
To take out a moment in time means to depart from the existence of time all together. Whether or not this is possible may be left to debate. I believe that one cannot take out any moment but may find seclusion inside of it. A person can exist in a singular phrase of time and acknowledge its beginning and end. But once the length is extended past its determinable measure, this moment’s dwelling is in history. I try to give an image that connects past to future, allowing a space for present. I want the viewer to receive information along the way, and then look again. There is continuity in everything, and I wish the image to grant a constant re-examination of its faculties. I wish it to allow one to be stilled inside its movement, to be lost in a moment that has only beginning and end.
