Peggy Cross, A.S.I.D.
The beauty and harmony that are the essence of Peggy’s spiritual ideal are reflected in her colorful visionary artwork, initially evoking the energies of the Bagua and the Five Elements as she began with tiny 4x4” canvases. This was the spring of 2008 “I just couldn’t not paint any longer” was her driving force and so she began. Rothkos huge paintings with blocks of vibrant colors were her initial inspiration, first seen on greeting cards, and so loved. Within a few weeks she was invited to hold a show at the Association of Research and Enlightenment in Virginia Beach VA. Four of her earlier works that are 24 x 24 and depict the Five Elements, currently hang in an office of the A.R.E. in a private collection.
These initial 4 x 4 canvases turned out to be very powerful. Upon completion of her first set of eight, representing the eight guas or areas of life within the Feng Shui Bagua, she placed the eight in the respective areas of her home. The Bagua is used as a life map for personal life change and enhancement in conjunction with ones home. Upon sitting down for meditation the following morning, Peggy experienced a life altering, perspective altering, few moments. As she closed her eyes she immediately felt a charge, like an electric current, rush through her torso from left to right, at heart chakra level. She intuitively felt and traced its journey counterclockwise around her home as the current of energy passed through each gua, connecting with each small painting, and returning to her body. The exhilarating result was that, with the passage of this energy, she felt a universal connection with all that is.
Peggys intention and life mission is to assist her clients in creating more joyful, beautiful, comfortable and nurturing homes, or to enhance any other built space. This has been a consistent theme in her work since the late 1980s when she began working in the field of Interior Design in Southwest Florida and chose to return to college, The Ringling College of Art and Design, for an B.F.A. It continued when she added Feng Shui to her professional repertoire in the 90s and so it is today. Her artwork is of quite high vibration and, for those who have seen the energy of this universe move, you know how it swirls, and that is what the majority of her paintings show.....that energetic movement. For Peggy, seeing this energy in a forest, gave the appearance to her that the trees themselves were dancing.
After a serious car wreck in 2012 her work spontaneously changed her creative expression became, and is now, guided by angels and archangels, a vision of energetic color and flow created with uplifting music in great love. After breaking her right wrist in 2015 and being right handed, she tired of not painting and one day she began again, painting with her left hand, and totally without expectations for a result. Doing so eventually evoked a stream of flowing tears and amazing dizziness and, through this unusual experience, she continued. Then – complete exhaustion and collapse. This experience was powerful and disorienting, as well as a little scary, and it was repeated the next day……an inter-dimensional journey according to some. The resultant paintings are distinct in that they primarily exhibit another style of brushwork.
Peggy’s preferred medium for her artwork is pure acrylics, colors without tint or hue, and for many paintings one day’s expression is begun and completed with a single brush and many colors interacting. She does not blend colors. Her art continues to be non-representational, created in loving joyfulness, accompanied by beautiful music and dancing, and guided by spiritual masters from the other side. Some are now painted with both hands. She has been told that she is well known on the other side for her use of color. Some pieces have messages channeled by loving friends of many years’ experience with this modality of communication. Sometimes the art spirit within talks to Peggy to deliver a particular message it may be a message meant to be public, pertaining to the art, but not always. Sometimes they are meant to be private and for her alone. In others, people have heard music and drumming, have seen spirits and felt vortexes that cause the body to rotate. The energy transmitted is quite powerful to those who are open to such an experience. It may further be considered a creator of luminal spaces. As Peggys artwork is created in love, what she believes is that people who lead lives based on love are most appreciative of her unique designs and her sometimes unusual combinations of color. It is her intention to, one day, paint the luminous colors she has seen in her minds eye yet never seen on this earth plane.
“Peggy Cross is an incredible artist full of vision and light. Every time I have been in the presence of Peggy’s art, I have been filled with a feeling of joy and lightness. There is a certain positive energy that is reflected from the work that she does. I believe each piece comes through her hands spiritually as she paints on a certain vibrational level and each piece is truly reflective of her vision. The art I purchased from Peggy traveled with me to Italy and sits in my foyer so it can be witnessed and enjoyed by all who enter my home.” Cella Ford, Vicenza, Italy
