Artist Statement

My art works are an exercise in exploration of the self, as a creature of nature; an evolution through understanding of my physical, sensual and spiritual needs. They are expressions of personal confusions, visions, emotions and realizations. They are not constricted by tyrannical rules or inhibitions. On one hand they are projections of my take on worldly matters, which often baffle and trouble me, and on the other they are personifications of my lunacies, fantasies, magical dreams, wicked thoughts and mischievous self expressions. Through their untamed and fantastic imagery, they are intimately mine, and ultimately me.

From a very tender age, the constant urge to give a tangible form to my flights of imagination and emotions lead me to find different mediums of expression. Through scribbling on the walls to the art and crafts classes in school, I have evolved. During my college days, I fell in love with the translucent water color and the dark etched lines of an ink pen. The lead pencil became my closest friend. So, I am led to believe that I did not choose the medium I presently work in, but the medium chose me.

After graduating as a Bachelor in Fine Arts, due to financial constraints, I had to start working as a graphic designer. I have worked under various agencies for six years, in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi. During this time, the Graphic Design software opened a new window for my artistic expressions. The effortless experimentation with Adobe Photoshop gave me creative insight from a different perspective. It helped me grow as an artist. Someday I wish to do a lot of creative work using that versatile medium.
