Artist Statement

My name is Pauline Allen. I have been working with mosaics for over 20 years alongside my professional career. People often comment on the detail in my work and the colours. On many occasions I have been asked if I sell my work and people have been amazed when I have said no. When I reached 60 at the end of last year I decided to make a change to my career path and follow a long held ambition to work exclusively with mosaics. The inspiration for my artwork comes from my love of wildlife, trees, gardens and places of beauty in my home county of Northumberland, England. I work with a wide range of coloured ceramic tiles which enables me to express my love of the outdoors and the changing seasons. Every piece of my work is different because it is hand built.
