Artist Statement

I started painting when I recently returned to my childhood home in Inverness, CA after a twenty-five year absence. I attempt to capture the unique essence of Tomales Bay and the surrounding watershed in the form of abstract landscapes. These landscapes are interpretive and emotional combining the memories of a child with elements of actual landforms seen through adult eyes. I paint with a brayer, repeatedly saturating the paper then scraping and applying additional layers of acrylic paint.
