Artist Statement

Hello, Thanks for stopping by! My work is loosely in the genre of travel photography, but like any artist I resist 'boxes'. It is an exploration of relationships- between people & things, ideas & perspectives, colors & textures, movement & stillness. I have been taking photographs for ~20 years, working in commercial/architectural & portrait photography during the 80's-90's, but only since 2004 when I left healthcare management have I been able to start the real journey of honing my voice through my art. I work in both traditional & digital arenas, but leaning more & more toward digital processes as 1) they improve dramatically in quality of output & 2) because they are more environmentally friendly. Many of my images are 'as shot' with minor adjustments comparable to darkroom developing. Many others are the result of experimentation in expression & have been digitally enhanced or altered; I label them as "digital art". If you would like to see more of my work & live in Houston, please check out The Eastman Gallery, (www.theeastmangallery.com), or Victor Tapu's Gallery, (www.pyagallery.com). I love to do custom work, whether with a designer or an individual, I enjoy helping people find just the right piece for their home or office. If you have questions about a piece or are interested in talking about a project, please call Aura Tapu,Mgr., @(713)541-0733....
