  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Susan Moore - I like to create realistic, fantasy, fairytale images using watercolour, oil, pen &ink, coloured pencil or acrylic. I use very fine detail so quite often mix media(adding tiny ink lines to eyelashes etc. on watercolour or coloured pencil)and using very fine brushes with oil or acrylic. My themes are varied and I am able to work in any style. My personal favorites are fantasy images with a great deal of contrast and depth to make them appear as if they are real. ...

Iwona Jankowski - My first works of art I have created as a child depicted horses. Drawing them, I thought I could feel every muscle of the horse I drew. It was far from perfect but the feeling remains. Even today, after many years, my favorite subject is Horses. For me the horse, beside the beautiful gracious body, is a symbol of a free soul, loyalty and trust. Especially Ii?1/2m fascinated by their eyes. An eye, as old people say, is a window to a soul. When you look in their trustful eyes, you can see they want to connect with us and are always as a vivid shadow that needs to be close, to follow and to please, and blindly doni?1/2t expect anything in return i?1/2 just hopes for love and simple friendship for life. Over the past ten years my work has transformed from a semi-realistic, simplified close-ups of my subjects, into a floating, colorful i?1/2Mottledi?1/2 compositions. My Mottled Horses - Equine art developed since 2003-4 in my new i?1/2Mottledi?1/2 style that merges abstract and expressionism with a touch of realism. The subject is created on a colorful abstract background to express feelings, often shown as a close-...

Keith Wilson - Keith Wilson's Architectural paintings are icons dedicated to an architecture that is no longer conceived or constructed. They represent his continuous study of architectural form. In his work he uses building structures and details in playful juxtaposition, allowing classical elements and vernacular constructions to have their own way, proliferating variations. His color is similarly the product of memory and imagination, inspired by the painted buildings he has seen in Italy and Greece. The result of this graphic exploration is a body of several hundred paintings and drawings, in which knowledge of historic form, fantasies of buildings that might be, and studies for commissioned works are all intermixed. Recently he has been painting landscapes of inspired by the hills that are adjacent to the UC Berkeley campus. The original paintings are painted with Chinese brushes using sumi ink and watercolor mixed with black water. The artist is offering signed limited edition prints of the paintings from his private collection. The printing method employed has a very high resolution which reproduces the brilliance and transparent qualities of the original watercolor paintings using permanent, archival ink on 100% rag watercolor paper. Keith Wilson was born in 1954 in Redding, California and has ...

Michael Rusch - It is interesting how the term Western Art is defined. For many it means cowboys and horses. While others think of the romantic exagerations by Remington. Still others will seriously consider Western Art, only if it represents the Southwest region. Well having been born in the American West.Living on a Farm/Ranch. Mining for coal and moly at one time. Living the city lifestyle as well, I see the the term Western Art as so much more. The color of the West encompasses its land, people and their attitudes . Whether from the past, future or present day, this color has its own unique quality. This is why I don't like to confine my subject matter to only the pre concieved traditional notions or ideas of what American Western Art is. Its the experiences I'm after so I can put them in the art. ...

Sylvain Cza - After studying painting and photography at the Fine Arts University of Metz, France, CZA started his artistic carreer in serigraphy in Paris then as an illustrator and in publicity as a draftsman. Finding theses mediums too confining, CZA returned to his first love: painting. Cza finds his inspiration in the music, myth and symbols of many cultures. ...

Giuseppe Saitta - As a writer and a poet, I've known for some time that my words are the wings of my emotions. However, as an artist I know that my abstract images are my emotions made manifest. I also know that art is and always has been the language of the soul. And I believe that it is through art that I can best communicate with my soul and spirit and your soul and spirit, and in so doing transform and grow beyond my limiting beliefs and struggles into absolute freedom. All of the arts can be portals into the deepest and most remote aspects of who we really are. The Realm of art is music, dance, body movement, painting, drawing, design and architecture, sculpture, theater, writing prose or poetry, mythic ritual, and yes all of the highest and most aesthetic aspects of science, philosophy, and mathematics. By risking whatever we must risk to leap through any of the many gateways of art and science, we give ourselves the gift of opportunity to awaken within us the long dormant languages of image and rhythm. These are experiential languages, like the language of touch. Most of these languages are metaphors for expressing ...
