Artwork Description:
I executed this etching using a zinc plate that measured five inches high by seven inches wide, 13 cm x 18 cm. The print size is eleven inches wide by ten inches high, or 28 cm x 26 cm. The print measures ten inches high by twelve inches wide. Studio techniques included aquatint, drypoint, intaglio, and Chine collé. My inspiration originated from imagery from ancient Greek vases. The techniques include intaglio, drypoint and aquatint with a chine collé overlay done with scarlet, Thai mulberry Bark paper. I created three pencil and ink drawings of this iconic nude finalize my design and used a black oil-based etching ink, RivesBFK white paper, Thai mulberry bark paper embedded with gold metallic thread, and methyl cellulose. This image was used for my first solo museum show in Brazil, at the MUSEU DA PRAIA, Ponta de Mangue, Maragogi, in Alagoas.
