This lyrical and haunting etching in diptych format employed the studio techniques of intaglio, drypoint, chine colle, and aquatint on two individual zinc plates. I photographed this scene in October 1987 while traveling around the south of Spain. The scene features Moorish Fountain of The Lions at The Alhambra in Granada. An original blend of four black, oil based inks was used on RivesBFK whitepaper. A handmade colored paper from Thailand, one infused with kozo threads and treated with methylcellulose, was used in the chine colle process, which gives the sky its maroon color. The work includes an ornate gold frame and off colored white mat that measure 16 inches high x 20 inches wide, 40.6cm x 50.8cm. Each plate size was 8 inches high by 6 inches wide, or 20.3cm by 15.2cm. This print is from the Third of Three Editions, and there are only five prints in the Second and Third editions. The first edition was printed over five years ago, and the 2nd and 3rd Editions were executed after the first Full Moon of 2019. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector with a frame and mat. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, the framed and matted etching and the cost of the shipment box. Hand printed by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
