This piece was inspired by the Victorian Indian influence of florals and stripes. It brings nostalgic memories of times gone by…a time when things were simpler.
From an artistic perspective, this work is inspired by my fascination of photographic printing from the cyanotype printing process.
The medium I used for this piece of art work is mud resist method, which is known as Dabu Printing.
Dabu is an ancient mud resist block printing technique from Rajasthan, India.
This art form almost vanished in the last century, now many artists are taking initiative of reviving this art form.
This is an extremely labour intensive process and involves many stages of printing and dyeing technique.
This process, however, yields extremely artistically beautiful and breathtaking results that might not be possible with another method.
