Artwork Description:

THE PRICE OF THIS ETCHING INCLUDES A GOLD PAINTED WOOD FRAME WITH GLASS AND ACID FREE MAT. THE FRAME MEASURES 16 INCHES HIGH BY 12 INCHES WIDE. THE WHITE MAT CONTAINS A GOLD INNER TRIMMED EDGE. THE ARTWORK ARRIVES WIRED AND READY TO HANG ON YOUR WALL. A HANGING HOOK AND NAIL ARE ALSO INCLUDED. Note that the two detail images are actually prints number two and three from this forth edition. This etching was inspired by a 2012 photograph by the artist taken in Covington, England. It shows a sculpture on the cathedral by Jacob Epstein, the same sculptor who carved the Oscar Wilde gravestone in Paris, as well as the free standing bronze entitled, SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNESS, which is permanently installed at The Philadelphia Museum of Art in Pennsylvania, USA. This original etching was executed on a zinc plate and manually printed on a Charles Brand flatbed press at The Center for Works on Paper, located on the Fleisher Art campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. The artist incorporated the etching techniques of Intaglio, Aquatint, Chine colle, and Drypoint. The media includes a blend of four oil based etching inks with 24-karat gold dust on RivesBFK white paper, all manufactured in France. Mulberry bark paper from Thailand and graphite are also included. Five nitric acid baths were required to obtain the final design. This is the best print of five prints in the LAST of FOUR Editions, which is noted on the etching as 1 over 5 separated by a semicolon and followed by the Roman numbers of one over four. The image size corresponds to the etching plate size of six inches wide by nine inches high, or 15.240cm by 22.860 cm. The framed and matted work measures about 12 inches wide by 16 inches high, or 27.940cm by 35.560cm.
