Artwork Description:
This etching incorporates the traditional techniques of intaglio, aquatint, and drypoint ans is from a very limited edition of only five prints in violet ink. The image is from my New Orleans series and features the tombstone of an angel. The background includes hanging Spanish moss and weeping willows. It is an urban legend that the marble angels come to life at night and walk the boundaries of the cemetery. The print size is about 11 inches high by 10 inches wide. The plate I used measured 7 inches by 5 inches, and eight acid baths were required. I used a mixture of French oil based inks, Charbonnel brand, and printed on RivesBFK white paper for this violet edition. The work was hand printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and allows the collector personal choice in mat selection and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts Dot Com price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, and the coast of the shipment box. Mailing costs are added.
