Artwork Description:
Title is BLUE STAR OF HEARTS, ESPAÑA. This etching is based upon a 1987 photograph taken by the artist. It depicts a 13th century window from a Romanesque Templar church, San Bartolome’s Hermitage. It is located in the Parque Natural del Cañon del río Lobos, Soria, Spain. The pentagram, which is a five pointed star, has extensive use in Religious Art. Five is the total number of Hebrew books that Christians adopted from the Torah, which establishes all Jewish teaching. The symbol was also sacred to the Knights Templar, because it relates to The Holy Grail, as well as to many clandestine stories concerning Mary Magdalene being Christ’s Bride. Mary is called Christ’s companion in the Aramaic and Hebrew tongues, and the word translates as wife. The zinc etching plate measured four inches high by five inches wide, or 10.160cm by 12.700cm. The framed print size 9 inches high by 12 inches wide. The etching is executed in French, oil base inks on Stonehenge fawn colored paper. This work, printed by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is from the THIRD EDITION OF FIVE EDITIONS. Each edition is limited to FIVE works. THIS ETCHING IS SOLD WITH BOTH A FRAME AND MAT. It is shipped to the collector in a cardboard carton.
