Artwork Description:
Inspired by an archived photo by F. B. Johnson from the US Library of Congress Carnegie Collection of Southern US Architecture. It features a patio garden in the French Quarter of New Orleans in 1890. This is one of about twelve etchings in my BIG EASY series, a group of works that examines the architecture, history and culture of old and contemporary New Orleans. French etching ink on RivesBFK white paper. The etchings from all EDITIONS were hand printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. The artists used a French black ink, Charbonnel brand, and RivesBFK white etching paper. Thai Mulberry bark paper, both hand dyed and infused with Japanese Kozo threads, was used in the Chine Colle process along with methyl cellulose.
