This etching is the third in my GLAZED ANTIQUITIES SERIES, a group of prints whose imagery centers on designs from ancient ceramics. The techniques employed here include intaglio, drypoint and aquatint with a chine colle overlay, done with bright yellow mulberry Bark paper handmade in Thailand. I used a blend of Charbonnel brand black oil base etching inks on RivesBFK white paper. The remaining two editions will be limited to only eight prints each and will be executed in the same colors. The image is taken from the Douris painter, 480 BC, and features Hercules and the Goddess Athena. Size of the image is 10 inches high by 8 inches wide, or 25.4 cm x 20.3 cm. The print size is 11 inches high by 15 inches wide, 28 cm x 38 cm. The work was hand printed and published by the artist at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Please note that this etching is shipped to the collector without a frame or mat. This keeps the price low and affords a wide selection of choice for the collector with regard to matting and framing. A sturdy cardboard box is employed for shipping the work. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping carton and securely packed with bubble wrap. The Absolute Arts price includes all handling costs, shipment supplies, Certificate of Authenticity, and the shipment carton. Mailing and transportation costs are added to the price.
