Artwork Description:
Five soaks in a Nitric acid bath were required to achieve the end-results. I used one zinc plate eight-inches high by ten inches wide 20.32cm by 25.40cm to create this work, which is also the overall size of the printed image the hand-torn paper or print measures 16 inches wide by 15 inches high appx. 40.640cm x 38.100cm. French, oil-based ink was used on Rives BFK white paper. A Thai mulberry bark paper was placed onto the inked plate this paper was previously treated with methyl cellulose and then dried right before the printing process began. The image was inspired by a color print taken by photographer Dennis Kovach in Valley of the Temples or Vaddi di li Tempri, Agrigento, Sicily I used this image with the artist’s permission. The etching shows the Temple of Concordia with a contemporary angel sculpture installed in front of it by the creator, Polish artist Igor Mitoraj. I added several hidden optical illusions and symbols within the clouds and on the ground. The lines and shaded areas of the male figure also contain abstracted forms of mystical symbols. Please note that this etching is shipped and sold to the buyer without a frame or mat. This keeps the price reasonable and also allows the collector a wide range of choice in framing selection. For shipment, a sturdy cardboard box is employed. The etching is first wrapped in two layers of acid free glassine and then placed between two archival boards. This is next placed into the shipping box and securely packed with bubble wrap. The price does NOT shipment costs to the collector.
